Carlisle is a village in northwestern Warren and southern Montgomery counties in Ohio. The Warren County portion of Carlisle resides in the Cincinnati-Middletown statistical area. Carlisle began in 1848 when the railroad was extended to the village. The village was named for “railroad man” George B. Carlisle, who in the mid-19th century bought and platted a large section of the community. This area became known as the “Jersey Settlement” as many of the early residents of Carlisle were originally natives of New Jersey. The Ohio community prides itself on its high quality of education, its quiet, rural atmosphere, and the allure of small town charm.
