Dayton is the sixth largest city in the state of Ohio and is known as the “Gem City.” Dayton is the county seat of Montgomery County. The city is located in what is known as the Ohio Valley and sits on the Miami River. Dayton is the fourth largest metropolitan area in Ohio, its metro region boasts a population of just under 800,000 residents. The most prominent industries present in the city of Dayton are defense, aerospace, and healthcare. Dayton is home to the National Museum of the United States Air Force and the birthplace of Orville Wright, one of the men credited with the first flight.

Dayton Chamber of Commerce – The Dayton Chamber of Commerce is an association of 2,400 members all located in the Dayton metropolitan area. The chamber was founded in 1907 by John H. Patterson of the National Cash Register Company. The chamber strives to continuously “raise the bar” for local businesses in hopes to someday make Dayton the best place to open and grow a business. Above all the chamber values diversity, advocacy, collaboration and courage.

Boonshoft Museum of Discovery – The Boonshoft Museum of Discovery began as the Dayton Museum of Natural History in 1893. As citizens of Dayton continued to travel the world and sent their discoveries back to Dayton their collections began to increase in size and scale prompting the formation of the Dayton Society of Natural History. In 1999 the Natural History museum merged with the Dayton Children’s Museum to form what is known today as the Boonshoft Museum of Discovery. The museum is located on Deweese Parkway in Dayton.

Montgomery County Fair – The Montgomery County Fair is a fair held annually in Dayton. The fair has been held in Dayton for over 160 years. The fair began as, and remains to this day many different agricultural contests such as the judgeing of prized animals such as cows, pigs and lambs, and various food contests. Much of the food provided at the destival is home cooked by local families. The Montgomery county fair also features attractions for young people such as rides and a petting zoo.
